Hi Sean,

I’m a big fan of the idea of becoming your own financial advisor. So, in my view, anything you can do to further your financial intelligence is good.
I think paying someone for financial advice can be useful for a number of reasons including:

1. It gives you the opportunity to discuss your financial needs, plan out next steps and works towards special goals.
2. The person giving advice is likely to give good advice (as they are now accountable).
3. Because you’ve paid for it, you’re likely to act on it!

The only caveat to advice is….only take advice from someone you respect (i.e. someone who is financially sound) and get it in writing!
